Acting Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays, with class times and fees according to age. Each term is ten weeks, with a break for half-term in between, following the three-term academic year. Students may return each term and rise through the age groups; moving up into a new group in the term that follows their birthday.
For the youngest students, the emphasis is on fun and creativity, on responding to sensory stimuli - sounds, music, images and working with bold colourful characters in exciting stories. There is a strong focus on physical activity. As the students mature we begin to teach specific drama skills: improvisation, characterisation, role play, creating plays and eventually moving onto scripted work. Students are encouraged to work supportively and reflectively, considering their own work and that of others. Once a year, students will work towards a production, using allied skills such as movement and singing.
